Our Sustainability Commitment
We are dedicated to operating our hotel in a way that reduces environmental impact, supports local suppliers, and promotes a culture of responsible resource management among staff and guests. Our sustainability actions focus on renewable energy, efficient operations, waste reduction, and community engagement.

Renewable & Efficient Energy Use
Energy efficiency is central to our sustainability strategy. We have implemented a series of measures to reduce consumption while maintaining guest comfort.
Wood Chip Biomass Heating
Our hotel is primarily heated using a renewable wood chip biomass system, significantly reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Wood chip is a sustainable, low carbon heating solution that helps us lower our emissions while maintaining consistent heating throughout the property.
Gas & Oil Usage
• Gas is used exclusively for cooking, ensuring efficient and controlled energy use in our kitchens.
• Oil is maintained as a backup fuel source for heating, used only when required to ensure guest comfort and business continuity.
Smart Heating Integration
• Our Property Management System (PMS) is linked directly to the heating system. Heating activates only when a guest is checked in and is controlled by a timer to prevent energy waste.
• Each guestroom is equipped with an individual thermostat, allowing guest control while automatically returning to pre set efficient levels after checkout.
Energy Saving Guestroom Controls
• All bedroom lighting and power are key card activated, ensuring energy is not consumed when rooms are unoccupied.
• The hotel has replaced lighting with LED bulbs wherever possible to further reduce electricity usage.
Recycling & Waste Reduction
We promote responsible waste management throughout the hotel:
• Glass bottles are returned and recycled through local drink suppliers.
• Cardboard from deliveries is recycled.
Sustainable Food Sourcing
Supporting local producers is a core part of our sustainability approach:
• All breakfast and evening-meal meats, including bacon, sausages, and burgers, are sourced locally.
• Fruit and vegetables are also purchased from local suppliers wherever possible, reducing food miles and supporting the regional economy.
Staff Engagement & Sustainability Measures
Our team plays a key role in reducing our environmental impact. We equip and encourage staff to make sustainable choices:
• Filtered water stations are available for staff, reducing reliance on single use plastic bottles.
• Energy awareness training: Staff are trained to minimise energy consumption and are encouraged to switch off lights and unused equipment when leaving rooms or workspaces.
Our Ongoing Commitment
Sustainability is an ongoing journey. We continue to monitor our performance and explore new initiatives that further reduce our footprint and enhance our positive impact. We are committed to continually improving in the areas of:
• Energy efficiency
• Waste reduction
• Sustainable purchasing
• Staff engagement
• Community support
