Do you require any deposit or payment in advance when making a room reservation?

When you make a booking with us we generally do not request a deposit unless you specifically select an advance purchase rate (which takes full payment on arrival). However certain bookings with us may take a deposit such as when we work with an external supplier such as our Christmas with Wild Ireland package. In the event a deposit is requested then it will be non refundable and non transferable.

How many rooms can I book at once?

You can book as many rooms as you wish or that is available to book however for groups of 15 or more rooms then please contact the hotel directly as we may be able to offer you a discount for larger group bookings.

What time is breakfast served?

Breakfast is served from 7.30am daily and up to 10.30am midweek. On Saturday and Sundays we serve breakfast until 11am. We advise all guests to prebook early for their breakfast times. At weekends the later times are most requested and we allocate times on a first request basis. If you choose to leave booking a breakfast time until arrival then you may have no option but the earliest time slot. Be prepared and pre book before arrival.

How do I make a reservation for Dinner?

We ask all our residents to make a reservation for dinner prior to arrival to ensure they have the time they want. If you have booked a package with dinner included we will endeavor to contact you prior to arrival. You can contact us to pre book your time as soon as you are ready. If you do not have dinner included but would like to dine with us in Peninsula Restaurant or Lough View Bar, we request you to prebook in advance also. How do I find you?

We are located along the coast of Lough Swilly as you drive in from Letterkenny/Derry direction. As you approach the roundabout into Buncrana we are located to the left hand side, the first turn off. Our postcode is F93 PP9H is you would like to enter this into your google maps or sat nav. If you are driving from the Carndonagh/ Clonmany direction you need to travel through the town and head out towards Derry/Letterkenny as we located on your way out of Buncrana to the right hand side. What is there to do near the hotel that I can walk to?

Buncrana has an abundance of activities to avail of by foot. There are superb walking routes just as you exit the hotel and along the shore path. The Amazing Grace lookout point is located along the shore front, there is a fantastic playpark along the shore front and the ferry connecting you to Rathmullan is located at the harbour in front of the hotel, great for day trips. Buncrana Town is only a short walk from our grounds and offers loads of shops, cafes and bistros to enjoy.

Things to do near the hotel that I can drive to?

Inishowen offers an amazing array of activites that really showcase our Peninsula in all its glory such as Walking with Alpacas at Malin Head, discovering the Faminie years all the way up to the Troubles in Northern Ireland at Doagh Famine Village, Greencastle Maritime Museum with its planetarium and history of the fishing industry in Inishowen. Can I request a travel cot for my child?

Yes, we can accommdate you with a travel cot for your child under 2. Please note we do not supply mattresses with our travel cots. Cots can be allocated to most room types and all children must be noted on your reservation. If your room type does not state children included or you are unable to add them in, it will be because the room type does not support additional children. Please contact us here at reception if you need to request a travel cot 07493 61144.

Can I change or cancel my reservation once it has been made?

Yes, you can contact us here at the hotel to change or amend your booking at any time but please allow up to 48 hours before the date to avoid a charge. For cancellations we have a 24 hour cancellation period which means you must contact us to cancel 24 hrs before you are due to arrive. Failure to do so means you will be charged the first night accommodation fee.

How can I arrange a viewing or appointment to speak to someone about my wedding?

Weddings are our speciality. We love meeting new couples and helping them to plan their wedding, their way. We have two dedicated wedding cordinators. Marie and Sinead on our team, who between them have over 50 years experience in the planning of weddings. How do I go about booking my Wedding Date with you?

To reserve a date with us please contact us to arrange a viewing. Dates can be held for up to two weeks on a provisional basis as we understand it takes time to get other aspects of the day to come together such as the ceremony. After the two week period your date is released if the deposit has not been paid to confirm.

How much is the deposit for a Wedding?

We request a deposit of €1000 to secure your date. This deposit is non refundable should you cancel your wedding with us for any reason. However should you wish to move your wedding date we can accommodate you as long as your new date is available and your deposit will move to the new date.

How does pricing work for Weddings?

We price for Weddings per package which can be viewed on our Wedding Package page. Our Wedding packages are based on including drinks or not and the amount of room dressing you would like to include. Your arrival reception, Five course dinner, evening buffet and room dressing are included in all our packages to a certain level. Prices start from €53pp in 2023 and change depending on what you want to include and what you want to add on such as drinks, additional food items and more elaborate room dressing options.

What about the Wedding package that includes a Band?

We work with a local Entertainment agency that sources amazing Wedding Bands. Together we offer an all inclusive Wedding Package with choice of Band, DJ plus Wedding Cake along with the hotel's Package. For more information and pricing please email sales@inishowengateway.com.

What are the best outdoor activities to do in Donegal?

Donegal is known for its stunning natural beauty, so there are plenty of outdoor activities to choose from. Some of the most popular options include hiking in the Bluestack Mountains or along the Wild Atlantic Way, surfing at Rossnowlagh or Bundoran Beach, and fishing in one of the many rivers or lakes in the area. Inishowen is surrounded by water so you can enjoy an afternoon at Moville Waterpark, Inish Adventures, which features the only inflatible waterpark in Donegal and also SUP, kayaking and loads other activities. Go private or with a guide. Fort Dunree near the hotel also offers stunning kayaking under the caves and night time kayaks.

What are some must-visit attractions in Donegal?

There are many great attractions in Donegal, but some of the most popular include the Slieve League Cliffs, Glenveagh National Park and Castle, the Inishowen Peninsula, and the Doagh Famine Village. Inishowen itself has a huge range of attractions including Grainan of Alieach, Fort Dunree, Glenevin Waterfall, Martime Museum in Greencastle and Wild Ireland animal santuary to name a few.

What are some family-friendly activities to do in Donegal?

Donegal has plenty of family-friendly activities, such as visiting the Bundoran Waterworld, exploring the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre, taking a boat trip to see the seals at Inishduff Island, or visiting the Ardnamona Gardens. Inish Adventures in Moville and Fort Dunree offer amazing family days out on the water. Wild Alpaca Way in Malin Head does family trekking with Alpacas and the rescue bears and wolves in Wild Ireland definately deserve some time to hear about their epic journey to their new home in Inishowen. All family friendly and guarantee a great afternoon of fun and adventure.

What are some cultural experiences to have in Donegal?

Donegal has a rich cultural heritage, and there are many experiences that can give you a taste of it. Some examples include visiting the Donegal Castle, attending a traditional music session at a local pub, visiting the Glencolmcille Folk Village, or taking a weaving or pottery class at a local artisan studio. Doagh Famine Village in Inishowen offers excellent, immersive tours around the village, where you can learn about how local people survived the famine years, through years of evictions and right up to the troubles. A great learning experience.

What are some unique experiences to have in Donegal?

Donegal has plenty of unique experiences to offer, such as taking a horseback ride on the beach with Donegal Equestrian Centre, visiting the Grianan of Aileach ancient hill fort, exploring the Caves of Maghera, or taking a boat trip to Tory Island to see the Puffins. When you visit Inishowen, a unique experience would be taking a night time kayak on Lough Swilly with Inish Adventures, photographing the Northern Lights out at Malin Head or An Grainan of Aileach, or driving the stunning Inishowen 100 which takes in every stunning beach location along the Inishowen coastline.
